My name is Father John Dougherty, CSC. I am the Pastor of Saint Gregory Catholic Church and am a Holy Cross priest from the University of Notre Dame. The Congregation of Holy Cross has always stressed Catholic education, and we carry that tradition of excellence to all schools that are affiliated with our Community. At the university and collegiate level, we staff the University of Notre Dame, University of Portland (my alma mater in Oregon), King's College (in Pennsylvania), Stonehill College (in Massachusetts) and St. Edward's University (in Texas). At the secondary level we founded and staff Notre Dame High School for Boys in Niles, Illinois. Finally, at the elementary level we have 8 parishes in the United States that have parish schools...one of the best being Saint Gregory's!!!

Holy Cross took over pastoral responsibility for St. Gregory Catholic Church and School in 1999, chiefly because of the fine elementary school. The parish and the school work closely together and neither could exist without the other. Each day the children are greeted by Fr. Kevin Sandberg, CSC, our associate pastor, and myself. We stress the education of the heart as well as the mind and seek to produce young men and women who will be active in their faith and will serve society and the church with enthusiasm and joy.
