Library

St. Gregory Catholic School Library is a fun place, where a love of reading is instilled in each child!  The two central goals of the library curriculum are to enable students to develop information literacy skills and to provide students with an opportunity to use and enjoy literature to develop imagination and foster critical thinking processes.

The goals are met by helping the staff and students meet the academic objectives of each grade level and by facilitating the Reading Counts program, which is an independent, motivational reading program for our students.  The library supports the academic objectives of each grade level by providing the time and resources to complete research, book reports and other projects assigned by the classroom teacher.  Students learn about the sections of the library (fiction, non-fiction, biography and reference) and how to search for and locate the resources they need in print, on the Internet and in multimedia sources.

By facilitating the Reading Counts program, the library helps to promote a love of reading, while improving students’ reading ability.
